๐Ÿ“Œ Salesforce Earnings Will Test Whether AI Can Drive Core Growth

Salesforce is about to report earnings, and what truly needs to be validated is not how large Agentforce can become as a standalone business, but whether this AI investment can reaccelerate the core business. Ahead of earnings, CRM shares have already risen by about 45%. Against such expectations, merely meeting estimates may not be enough; investors will focus more on whether management’s explanation of subsequent growth can support the gains already made.

Agentforce currently has a business scale of about USD 1.2 billion, but standalone scale does not necessarily translate into a sustained contribution to the company’s overall revenue and cash flow. More critical is the transmission chain: after customers use AI, do they increase their consumption of Data 360 and APIs; can this consumption be reflected in cRPOโ€”contracted revenue not yet recognizedโ€”as well as in renewal activity? If these metrics do not improve, there is still no direct link between growth in the AI business and the core subscription business.

High-expectation software stocks are particularly sensitive to forward guidance. In its most recent quarter, Intuit’s revenue and non-GAAP earnings per share both exceeded expectations, but its full-year revenue and earnings-per-share guidance came in below expectations, and its share price at one point fell by about 10% after earnings. This is not a preview of Salesforce’s results, but it shows that the market may care more about future orders, renewals, and consumption intensity than single-quarter above-expectation figures.

Therefore, the core dividing line for this Salesforce earnings report is clear: if Agentforce can drive contracted backlog, renewals, and data and API consumption, AI investment may then translate into renewed acceleration of the core business; if these links remain weak, the approximately 45% pre-earnings gain will make the cost of weak guidance higher.
