📌 Nvidia's New Hundred-Billion Buyback Confirms Cash Flow Resilience
Nvidia’s board of directors recently approved an additional USD 150 billion in stock buyback authorization. This decision pushes the company’s remaining buyback capacity to an elevated range of approximately USD 235 billion to USD 250 billion.
In terms of execution pace, Nvidia plans to complete all remaining buybacks before the end of fiscal year 2028. Calculated at the current pace, the company’s stock buyback ratio over the coming year will exceed 4% of its total share capital. In the technology industry, such intensive capital return typically indicates management’s exceptionally high confidence in on-balance-sheet cash generation capability.
The most direct significance of this capital move for the secondary market lies in clarifying divergences over the compute hardware cycle. Recently, the market has frequently worried about slowing GPU hardware demand and pressure on pricing power, but Nvidia’s large-scale buyback shows that the company’s current exceptionally high profit margins and operating cash flow are sufficient to take on hundred-billion-dollar-scale shareholder cash returns while supporting high-intensity technological R&D. As long as downstream procurement pace for AI compute does not experience a cliff-like contraction, this financial model that balances capital expenditure and share cancellation can continue to provide valuation support.
